Holy Quran museum inaugurated in Makkah’s Hira cultural district
Ramadan-long museum enriches spiritual experiences of its visitors, while spreading message of love
MAKKAH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) – Saudi Arabia has inaugurated the Holy Quran Museum, a landmark cultural and religious institution located in the Hira cultural district of Makkah.
Developed under the guidance and support of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites, the museum aims to deepen the understanding of the Qur’an as the primary source of guidance for Muslims.
Makkah Deputy Governor Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the museum.
The museum showcases an impressive collection of rare manuscripts, historical copies of the Quran, according to Arab News.
The museum displays interactive exhibits that trace the journey of Quranic transcription and its preservation throughout history.
Spanning approximately 67,000 square meters, the Hira Cultural District is a significant cultural and religious hub, centered around Mount Hira, the site where the first revelation descended upon the Prophet Muhammad.
Among the museum’s highlights are artifacts such as a photographed copy of the Quran manuscript attributed to Uthman bin Affan, the third caliph of Islam, and ancient stone inscriptions featuring Qur’anic verses.
The district also features the Revelation Exhibition, an interactive display that vividly portrays the descent of revelation, and a pathway that allows visitors to ascend to Hira Cave, the historic site of the first revelation.
In addition to the Holy Qur’an Museum, the Hira Cultural District includes several other facilities designed to enhance the educational and spiritual experience of visitors.
These include the Saudi Coffee Museum, the Cultural Library, and Hira Park, all of which contribute to the district’s role as a center for cultural and religious enrichment.
The Holy Quran Museum will remain open throughout the holy month of Ramadan, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the rich heritage and profound significance of the Quran.
