KAZAN, Russia (MNTV) — A young inventor from a village near Kazan has developed a sensor-equipped cane designed to help blind and visually impaired people navigate their surroundings.
Ayaz, a parishioner of the Rukh Mosque in the village of Osinovo, created the device using sensors that detect nearby obstacles and alert the user with sound signals.
The cane includes a microcontroller, battery and control button, along with a rangefinder that measures the distance to walls and other objects.
“This cane helps visually impaired people orient themselves in space,” Ayaz said while demonstrating his invention. “Here is a microcontroller with a battery and a button, and this unit contains a rangefinder that measures the distance to obstacles.”
The student said he wanted to design something original that could benefit many people.
“I thought about what invention I could make that doesn’t exist yet and that could help others,” he said.
“Allah calls us to goodness. I decided to earn good deeds by helping people who are sick.”
Community members praised Ayaz’s initiative as an example of how young people can apply technical creativity to social needs, guided by values of compassion, service and care for others.
