Kuwaiti women expand influence across diplomatic service
Foreign Ministry highlights growing representation and leadership of women in missions around the world
KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait (MNTV) – Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry has praised the increasing role of women in the country’s diplomatic service, highlighting their contributions to advancing Kuwait’s interests and strengthening its presence on the international stage.
In a statement issued to mark the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, observed annually on June 24, the ministry commended Kuwaiti women serving in diplomatic and administrative positions for their professionalism, commitment and achievements both at home and abroad.
The ministry said women now account for 21% of Kuwait’s diplomatic corps, with 145 female diplomats serving at the ministry’s headquarters and in diplomatic missions worldwide.
According to the statement, 65 Kuwaiti women, including diplomats and administrative personnel, are currently posted overseas across 47 Kuwaiti diplomatic missions.
The ministry also pointed to the growing presence of women in senior leadership positions, noting that three Kuwaiti women currently serve as assistant ministers of foreign affairs.
Officials said the achievements of Kuwaiti women in diplomacy demonstrate their capability and expertise in representing the country in regional and international forums, while contributing to the continued development of Kuwait’s foreign service.
The ministry added that the expanding participation of women reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen their role in public service and international engagement, reinforcing Kuwait’s diplomatic outreach around the world.
