Afghanistan to host major industrial exhibition in Kabul
Weeklong expo aims to promote domestic industries, reduce reliance on imports, and spotlight national self-sufficiency
KABUL, Afghanistan (MNTV) — Afghanistan is set to host a major industrial exhibition in its capital next week, bringing together hundreds of local producers in an effort to spotlight domestic manufacturing and promote self-reliance across key sectors.
According to TOLOnews, the exhibition will open on May 27 and run through June 1 at the Afghanistan International Exhibition Center in Kabul. Organized by the Afghanistan Chamber of Mines and Industries, the event will feature 700 booths across four exhibition halls, displaying goods exclusively made in Afghanistan.
“This exhibition will highlight local production capacity,” said Sherbaz Kaminzada, head of the Chamber of Mines and Industries. “Everything on display is domestically produced, reflecting Afghanistan’s growing industrial base.”
Officials say the exhibition aims to stimulate public support for national industries and reduce dependency on imported goods. Exhibitors will include manufacturers from agriculture, textiles, carpets, healthcare, banking, mining, machinery, and various service sectors.
Mohammad Saber Latifi, director of the Afghanistan International Exhibition Center, called on citizens to prioritize locally made products over imports. “We encourage people to support Afghan industries by choosing domestic alternatives wherever possible — from carpets to fruit and other essentials,” he said.
Industrial leaders say the event reflects growing momentum in several sectors. Sarwar Farhad, head of the Kandahar Chamber of Industries, noted that Afghanistan has achieved self-sufficiency in livestock feed and is now exporting materials such as oilseed cake to regional markets.
Despite challenges facing the country’s economy, Afghan officials view industrial expansion as key to future stability and job creation.
The exhibition, held during Afghanistan’s Industry Week, is seen as both a platform for local entrepreneurs and a showcase of the country’s untapped production capacity.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Mines and Industries said the event will serve as a networking opportunity for businesses, investors, and policymakers looking to strengthen domestic manufacturing amid ongoing efforts to revive the national economy.
