US intelligence concludes Iran not ready for talks as threats against Americans in region mount
According to New York Times, citing US officials, recent assessments indicate Tehran is not prepared to engage in substantive diplomacy
WASHINGTON, United States (MNTV) – U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded that Iran is currently unwilling to enter meaningful negotiations to end the war, even as Washington warns of mounting threats to American-linked sites across the Middle East.
According to the New York Times, citing U.S. officials, recent assessments indicate Tehran is not prepared to engage in substantive diplomacy.
The US embassy in Kuwait issued a security alert Wednesday warning that Iran and Iran-aligned militias may be planning to target locations where Americans are present, including universities, with the embassy stating that Tehran has “specifically threatened American universities across the Middle East.”
The embassy noted that commercial flights from Kuwait are not currently operating due to ongoing threats of missile and drone attacks, and urged U.S. citizens to consider departing via overland routes to Saudi Arabia, where commercial flights remain available.
Those unable to depart were advised to shelter in place, stay away from windows, maintain adequate supplies of food and medication, keep mobile phones charged and monitor official channels for updates. All routine consular services at the Kuwait City mission have been suspended, with emergency assistance available through a 24-hour task force.
The embassy also provided detailed departure logistics for U.S. citizens booked on Kuwait Airways flights departing from Dammam Airport and Jazeera Airways flights from Al-Qaisumah Airport, both requiring check-in at designated locations before being bused to Saudi airports.
