UAE’s du launches first Arabic-language telecom AI model with global partners
Collaboration with Microsoft, Nokia, Khalifa University, and ITU aims to boost sovereign AI capabilities
DUBAI, UAE (MNTV) — UAE’s telecom provider du has introduced the first Arabic-language telecom large language model (LLM), developed in collaboration with Microsoft, Nokia, Khalifa University, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), marking a major step forward in sovereign AI innovation.
Tailored specifically for internal telecom operations, the du Arabic Telecom LLM is designed to enhance operational efficiency, streamline internal processes, and support the UAE’s broader vision of advancing Arabic-language AI technologies.
The model assists du’s internal teams with real-time complaint handling, device troubleshooting, and generating intelligent insights through culturally contextual dialogue.
Saleem AlBlooshi, Chief Technology Officer at du, said the initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to localized AI solutions that reflect UAE’s language and culture.
“Together with our esteemed partners, we are building a future where AI speaks our language, understands our context, and transforms the way we work,” he stated.
The Arabic Telecom LLM was developed within the UAE and adheres to local linguistic standards, reinforcing the nation’s digital infrastructure with context-aware capabilities.
The company said the model could eventually be expanded to serve external and multilingual use cases, setting a benchmark for culturally aligned AI deployment across the telecom sector.
