ANKARA (AA) — US President Donald Trump said that the Palestinian group Hamas will release all Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip on October 13.
Trump made the remarks during a phone call with the families of Israeli captives, shortly after the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
The relatives reportedly thanked Trump for his efforts in brokering the deal.
During the call, Trump said all Israeli hostages would be released on Monday but did not clarify whether this would include the remains of deceased captives.
Earlier, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had approved the first phase of a US-proposed Gaza peace deal.
The 20-point plan, unveiled on September 29, calls for the release of all Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, a ceasefire, the disarmament of Hamas, and the reconstruction of Gaza.
