Israel launches fresh attacks across southern Lebanon
Israeli forces bomb homes, shell villages and detonate explosives despite ceasefire commitments, renewing threats to civilians across southern Lebanon
BEIRUT, Lebanon (MNTV) — Israeli forces carried out fresh airstrikes, artillery attacks and demolitions across southern Lebanon on Monday, in another reported violation of the ceasefire agreement intended to end hostilities between the two countries.
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, an Israeli drone dropped two bombs on a house between Shoukin and Mayfadoun in Nabatieh district, although no injuries were immediately reported.
Israeli artillery also shelled areas near Mayfadoun and struck Mansouri in the Tyre district.
Israeli forces detonated two powerful explosions in the al-Ruwais neighborhood of Zawtar al-Sharqiya, while another airstrike targeted the outskirts of Qantara in the Wadi al-Saluki area of Marjayoun district, the Lebanese agency reported.
Separately, a person collecting scrap metal was injured when an unexploded or suspicious object detonated near the Deir Kifa junction in Tyre district. Authorities had not disclosed the person’s condition.
The latest attacks came despite a US-sponsored agreement reached on June 26 that envisages a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory alongside the deployment of the Lebanese army and the disarmament of armed groups.
Israel’s continued military operations have raised serious questions about the effectiveness of the ceasefire arrangements and the protection of civilians in southern Lebanon.
The agreement was intended to establish conditions for a withdrawal and reduce the risk of renewed conflict, yet Israeli attacks have continued across affected areas.
According to figures cited by Anadolu Agency, Israeli attacks have killed at least 4,386 people and injured 12,407 since March 2, while displacing more than one million people.
The figures underscore the extensive human cost of the military campaign and the challenges facing communities attempting to recover.
Israeli forces continue to occupy parts of southern Lebanon. Some positions have been held for decades, while others were seized during the 2023–2024 war.
During the latest conflict, Israeli forces advanced approximately 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory, according to the report.
Continued strikes, artillery fire and explosive demolitions risk deepening displacement and undermining efforts to restore security along the border. The latest incidents also highlight the gap between the commitments contained in the ceasefire framework and conditions experienced by residents in southern Lebanon.
