Saudi-led coalition intercepts 3 Houthi ballistic missiles targeting kingdom’s east
Interceptions follow destruction of 3 drones over Riyadh region and southern Saudi Arabia
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) – The Saudi-led coalition said early Tuesday that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi group toward Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
The announcement did not specify the intended targets or provide details on possible casualties or damage.
On Monday, the coalition said it intercepted and destroyed three drones over the Riyadh region and southern Saudi Arabia, without identifying their origin or intended targets.
The coalition also announced strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen, saying it destroyed ballistic missile launchers, storage tunnels and a missile depot.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the operations aimed to dismantle the group’s ballistic missile network and disrupt its supply routes.
The latest developments came amid an ongoing escalation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi group since July, alongside renewed fighting between the Houthis and Yemen’s internationally recognized government.
Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition supporting Yemen’s government against the Houthis since March 2015.
The group has controlled the capital, Sanaa, and other parts of Yemen since September 2014.
