Oman begins construction of Al Mudhaibi Industrial City
First phase launched with $45 million contract as part of Oman Vision 2040 industrial expansion
MUSCAT, Oman (MNTV) — Construction has begun on the new Al Mudhaibi Industrial City in Al Sharqiyah North Governorate, following the award of a $45 million contract to a joint venture between Omani firm Al Sarooj Construction and Saudi Arabia’s Al Rawaf Contracting.
The project, overseen by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), forms part of the Sultanate’s wider industrial development strategy under Oman Vision 2040, reported Zawya News.
The first phase will cover 134 hectares and includes enabling works such as road networks, storm-water drainage, potable and sewer systems, irrigation, utility corridors, communication infrastructure, power supply, and associated buildings.
Al Sarooj Construction described the award as “a milestone in building sustainable infrastructure that supports Oman’s industrial growth and the creation of future-ready cities.”
The hub has already drawn RO 12 million in private investment for projects ranging from electronics and electrical materials to poultry processing, disinfectants, furniture, and industrial gases. Plans also include a startup complex for manufacturing ventures and hydroponic agricultural facilities.
When completed, Al Mudhaibi Industrial City is expected to expand to nearly 9 million square meters, making it one of the largest hubs managed by Madayn.
Its location along the main highway linking the Special Economic Zone at Duqm with Oman’s ports and border crossings is expected to strengthen its role as a logistics and industrial center.
Officials say the city represents a cornerstone of national development projects in Al Sharqiyah North and reinforces Oman’s efforts to attract investment through public-private partnerships, in line with Madayn Vision 2040.
