‘Arab Narrative Days’ spotlights Arab heritage in Saudi Arabia
Riyadh hosts cultural forum emphasizing Arabic language, identity, and the evolution of Arab civilization and arts
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) – The third edition of Al-Marwiyah Al-Arabiyah, or Arab Narrative Days, opened in Riyadh, focusing on the theme “From Orientalist Narrative to Arab Narrative” to critically reconstruct and celebrate Arab cultural identity.
According to Arab News, the two-day event highlighted the evolution of Arabic language, literature, and civilization, tracing the historical, social, and artistic factors that shaped Arab heritage.
Organizers emphasized the role of the Arabic language and calligraphy, noting how the revelation of the Holy Qur’an elevated Arabic literacy and artistic expression.
Prince Turki Al-Faisal, chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, underscored the center’s mission to translate its collections into a visible Arabic narrative through research, art, and education.
Cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) strengthens knowledge programs aimed at preserving Arab heritage and promoting cultural awareness in modern society.
Mohamed Ould Amar, ALECSO director-general, praised the initiative for restoring Arab cultural presence, linking creativity, language, and identity, and advancing understanding of Arabs’ scientific and intellectual contributions.
The event builds on prior editions that analyzed classical narratives, desert culture, and historical knowledge, reinforcing the significance of cultural memory and national identity.
