Omantel, Be’ah join hands to boost e-waste management
Collaboration targets improved collection, recycling, and AI-driven monitoring to advance Oman’s national sustainability goals
MUSCAT, Oman (MNTV) – Omantel and the Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) have entered into a new partnership to upgrade electronic-waste management across the Sultanate, aligning with both institutions’ sustainability mandates and national priorities under Oman Vision 2040.
The agreement aims to enhance the efficiency of e-waste collection and recycling systems while expanding public awareness efforts across the country.
According to International Business Magazine, a joint working team will oversee implementation, measure impact, and identify new opportunities for future initiatives.
E-waste categories include telecommunications and IT equipment—such as smartphones, computers, routers, modems and servers—as well as household electronics that have reached end of life.
As part of the collaboration, Omantel and Be’ah have begun coordinating with Evergreen Gulf Recycling Hub to channel electronic waste exclusively to certified recycling centers.
The partners are also examining ways to deploy artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technologies within Be’ah’s facilities to enhance real-time monitoring, strengthen oversight, and support more accurate operational decision-making.
Omantel said the initiative reinforces its commitment to applying advanced technology to strengthen environmental sustainability.
Be’ah described the partnership as a significant move toward building a unified national e-waste management system and elevating Oman’s position as a regional leader in environmental innovation.
Earlier this year, both organizations were jointly honored with the Forbes Middle East Sustainability Leaders Award 2025 for their contributions to sustainability initiatives.
