Israel orders evictions, home demolitions to displace Palestinians near East Jerusalem
Palestinian families given one week to leave their homes as Israel intensifies displacement and settlement-driven policies across the occupied West Bank
JERUSALEM, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli occupation authorities have issued forced eviction and demolition notices for dozens of Palestinian homes in the town of Kafr Aqab, north of occupied East Jerusalem, in the latest escalation of policies widely condemned as part of Israel’s systematic campaign to uproot Palestinians from their ancestral land.
According to the Jerusalem Governorate, Israeli occupation forces stormed the town and distributed demolition orders to Palestinian residents, giving affected families just one week to vacate their homes before Israeli bulldozers move in to destroy them.
The governorate said the latest orders follow earlier Israeli notices that halted construction on around 20 Palestinian homes, reflecting an ongoing policy aimed at preventing Palestinian urban development while expanding Israeli control over occupied territory.
Elsewhere, Israeli occupation forces placed massive concrete barriers in the Khneideq area along the road linking Beit Anan and Beit Liqya, northwest of occupied East Jerusalem, in preparation for installing another military gate that will further tighten restrictions on Palestinian movement.
According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the area has repeatedly been subjected to Israeli military raids and settler violence, with farmers routinely prevented from reaching their agricultural lands as part of broader efforts to isolate Palestinian communities.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said Israel has now established 917 military checkpoints across the occupied West Bank, including 244 additional military gates erected since October 2023, severely restricting the movement of Palestinians and fragmenting their communities.
Since the beginning of Israel’s assault on Gaza in October 2023, Israeli occupation forces and illegal settlers have dramatically intensified attacks across the occupied West Bank.
According to Palestinian figures, at least 1,181 Palestinians have been killed, around 13,000 injured, and nearly 24,000 arrested during the ongoing genocide.
Human rights organizations and the United Nations continue to regard Israeli settlements, forced evictions and home demolitions in occupied Palestinian territory as violations of international law that contribute to the unlawful annexation of Palestinian land.
