Israel displaces thousands of Palestinians across Hebron
Movement restrictions, property demolitions and disrupted access to essential services deepen humanitarian pressures in occupied West Bank city
HEBRON, Palestine (MNTV) — More than 3,000 Palestinians have reportedly been displaced in Hebron amid an Israeli military operation that has imposed severe movement restrictions, damaged private property and disrupted access to essential services, according to the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees.
According to Arab News, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned that conditions were deteriorating across parts of the occupied West Bank city, where Israeli forces have maintained sweeping restrictions following a shooting attack on Israeli soldiers on Oct. 23.
UNRWA Director of Affairs in the West Bank Roland Friedrich said the restrictions had severely limited residents’ freedom of movement and their ability to obtain critical services. The operation has also involved demolitions of homes and other private property.
Friedrich warned that the developments echoed mass displacement in the northern occupied West Bank in early 2025. More than 34,000 Palestinian refugees from the Jenin, Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps remained displaced more than a year after those operations, he said.
The latest displacement has intensified concerns about the protection of civilians and the long-term consequences of military operations in densely populated Palestinian communities.
Restrictions on movement can prevent residents from reaching medical facilities, obtaining basic supplies and maintaining their livelihoods.
Friedrich stressed that displaced residents must be allowed to return with their dignity and rights protected under international law. He also called for access to essential services to be maintained.
UNRWA said it was coordinating with humanitarian partners, the Palestinian Authority, and Hebron’s governorate and municipality to address urgent needs. Assistance distributed to affected families includes blankets, mattresses, and pillows.
The operation comes amid heightened tensions across the occupied West Bank and renewed concerns over repeated displacement.
The situation underscores the humanitarian consequences of restrictions and demolitions imposed on Palestinian communities living under Israeli military control.
