Iran develops national agricultural land-use map to strengthen policy planning
Project aims to optimize land management and support sustainable agricultural development across the country
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran’s Organization for Land Affairs is undertaking a nationwide initiative to create a comprehensive agricultural land-use map, aimed at providing reliable data to guide national land-use planning and agricultural policy.
Mohammad Ahmadi, Director General of the Engineering and Cadastral Office, told Mehr News Agency that the project forms a key part of Iran’s broader territorial development strategy.
The map will serve as critical infrastructure to support evidence-based agricultural decision-making and optimize land use across the country.
“Having accurate statistics on agricultural land is essential for effective planning and policymaking,” Ahmadi said. “Detailed and trustworthy data on the distribution and usage of farmland is one of the main prerequisites for any successful land-use strategy.”
He explained that the initiative is being implemented in accordance with national strategic frameworks and utilizes current technical resources and operational expertise to produce a standardized, nationwide map.
Once completed, the map will play a central role in land-use optimization and will help facilitate more sustainable agricultural practices at the national level, Ahmadi added.
