Iran demands reparations from Arab states over US-Israeli attacks
Tehran accuses regional governments of enabling strikes, calls US blockade illegal and urges UN action against escalating aggression
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran has demanded reparations from five Arab states, accusing them of facilitating what it described as US-Israeli aggression by allowing their territories to be used for attacks on Iranian soil, in a move that sharply escalates diplomatic tensions across the region.
In a formal communication addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the UN Security Council, Iran’s envoy Amir-Saeid Iravani rejected claims made by Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan, instead asserting that these countries had played a direct or indirect role in enabling military operations against Iran.
Tehran argued that by permitting their land, airspace, or infrastructure to be used for strikes, these states had forfeited any legal basis to invoke self-defense under international law.
The letter emphasized that Iran considers itself the victim of unlawful aggression and maintains that its actions fall within its inherent right to defend its sovereignty.
The Iranian envoy further alleged that, in some instances, attacks targeting civilian areas inside Iran were carried out with the involvement of these regional actors, describing such actions as serious violations of international obligations.
Tehran called on the five governments to immediately cease what it termed “internationally wrongful acts” and to compensate Iran for both material and moral damages resulting from the conflict.
The letter also delivered a forceful condemnation of Washington’s naval blockade on Iranian ports, describing it as a blatant violation of international law and a dangerous escalation driven by US and Israeli military objectives in the region.
Iran stated that the blockade infringes on its sovereignty and territorial integrity, while also disrupting global maritime trade and violating the rights of other nations. The move was characterized as a clear breach of the UN Charter’s prohibition on the use of force, as well as a violation of established laws governing international waters.
Tehran warned that the blockade represents not only an attack on Iran but a broader threat to regional and global stability, particularly as it restricts access to key shipping routes and intensifies economic pressure amid an already volatile conflict.
Iran urged the United Nations to take immediate action by condemning the blockade and holding Washington accountable for what it described as an unlawful and provocative measure. The envoy stressed that the United States bears full responsibility for the consequences of its actions, including any further destabilization across the Middle East.
At the same time, Tehran signaled that it reserves the right to respond with “necessary and proportionate measures” to defend its national interests, raising concerns about the potential for further escalation if diplomatic efforts fail.
The development underscores growing international alarm over the widening scope of the conflict, as US and Israeli strategies continue to draw in regional actors and push the situation closer to a broader confrontation with far-reaching consequences.
