Iran vows revenge for seven soldiers killed in US strike
Iranian army says attack on military barracks in southeastern Iran killed seven personnel and wounded several others
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran’s army said Wednesday that seven military personnel were killed and several others wounded in a U.S. missile strike on a military barracks in southeastern Iran, vowing to retaliate at a time of its choosing.
In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the public relations office of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force said 13 missiles struck one of its barracks in Bampur, near Iranshahr in Sistan and Baluchestan province, before dawn.
The army said the missiles hit dormitories, accommodation facilities and guard posts, killing seven personnel, including career soldiers and conscripts, and injuring several others.
According to the statement, the attack deliberately targeted residential and support facilities within the barracks. The army said passive defense measures had reduced the number of casualties despite an effort to inflict maximum losses.
“The revenge for the pure blood of the martyrs of this crime is certain and imminent,” the statement said.
It added that the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in coordination with the country’s other armed forces, would deliver a “decisive response” to this act of aggression by the United States.
The army also expressed condolences to the families of those killed and said security along Iran’s borders would be maintained.
The United States did not immediately comment on the Iranian claims.
