Hind Rajab Foundation rejects planned Israeli probe into girl’s killing
Foundation dismisses reported Israeli criminal investigation as an attempt to avoid accountability for deaths in Gaza
GENEVA (MNTV) — The Hind Rajab Foundation said it has no confidence in a reported Israeli military decision to investigate the killing of five-year-old Palestinian girl Hind Rajab and six members of her family in Gaza in 2024.
The foundation said the move appeared aimed at deflecting scrutiny rather than establishing accountability, describing the planned investigation as a “masquerade” intended to shield Israel from responsibility.
Hind was trapped inside her family’s car in Gaza City in January 2024 after the vehicle came under Israeli fire. She remained in the car for days, during which she made a desperate phone call seeking help.
Her body was eventually found after nearly two weeks, along with the bodies of several family members.
Two Palestinian paramedics who had been dispatched to rescue her were also found dead at the scene.
The case drew international attention after recordings of Hind’s calls for help emerged, prompting widespread demands for an investigation into the circumstances of her death.
More than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Israel began its war on the besieged territory in October 2023, according to Palestinian authorities, with children among the thousands of victims.
