Domestic backlash within the U.S.
The strikes also sparked criticism from U.S. lawmakers, with Democratic leaders calling for limits on presidential authority.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar labeled the attacks ādangerous and reckless,ā urging an immediate end to hostilities.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accused Trump of risking a generational war, calling the strikes āimpulsiveā and āgrounds for impeachment.ā
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries warned of the risks to U.S. troops and held Trump ācompletely and totally responsibleā for any fallout.
