Tunisia’s tourism revenue surpasses $2.2 billion in 2025, driven by near-record arrivals
Strong performance positions sector for continued growth, with nearly 10 million international tourists recorded by November
TUNIS, Tunisia (MNTV) — Tunisia’s tourism industry generated over $2.2 billion in revenue in 2025, from January through November, reflecting a sharp rise in international tourist arrivals and renewed momentum in the sector, according to the National Tourism Office.
The country welcomed 9.9 million international tourists by the end of November, and authorities are confident for the number of tourists to grow—setting a new all-time high for Tunisia’s tourism sector.
This rebound highlights the resilience and growing global appeal of Tunisia as a travel destination, especially after recent global disruptions to the travel industry.
Tourism remains a critical component of Tunisia’s economy, contributing roughly 9 percent to the national GDP.
The industry also supports around 400,000 jobs, spanning a wide range of services including hospitality, transportation, and tour operations.
Officials note that the ongoing surge in arrivals is expected to generate even more employment opportunities and stimulate local economies, particularly in coastal regions.
The sector’s impressive growth has been largely driven by Tunisia’s diverse range of offerings—from Mediterranean beaches and ancient Roman sites to its desert landscapes and vibrant cultural heritage.
Top attractions include the archaeological remains of Carthage, the historic medinas of Tunis and Sousse, and the Sahara’s desert oases, which are increasingly popular among eco-tourism and adventure travelers.
Government efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure have also played a key role. Investments in airport facilities, hotel renovations, and improved transport links have helped accommodate rising demand while improving the overall visitor experience.
Beyond economic benefits, tourism has proven vital in strengthening Tunisia’s foreign currency reserves. The significant inflow of tourism revenues contributes to the country’s financial stability and attractiveness for foreign investors.
Looking forward, Tunisia’s tourism authorities are optimistic about sustained growth, buoyed by global trends favoring immersive, sustainable, and culturally rich travel experiences.
With ongoing efforts to promote its heritage and improve services, Tunisia is well-positioned to remain a premier destination in the region.
As the year concludes, officials anticipate that 2025 will stand as a landmark year for the tourism sector—one that sets the stage for even greater achievements ahead.
