Travel Alert for Toronto: Major TTC and GO Train Closures This Weekend.
March 27, 2026: The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has issued an advisory stating that starting tomorrow (Saturday), subway service on Line 2 between Kipling and Jane stations will be suspended for scheduled track work. Shuttle buses will be provided as a replacement.
For those using Royal York Station, please note that the Grenview Blvd. entrance will be closed during this period. However, nearby stations will remain open for travelers to load their PRESTO cards or transfer to bus routes.
The TTC anticipates resuming normal subway service between Kipling and Jane by Sunday at 8 a.m.
Following this closure, another segment of Line 2 will also experience service interruption. On Sunday, the section between Jane and Ossington will be closed for signal maintenance, with shuttle buses again replacing trains. During this shutdown, Runnymede, High Park, Lansdowne, and Dufferin stations will be completely closed, though other stations will remain open for PRESTO services and bus connections.
Normal service is expected to resume by 6 a.m. on Monday, just in time for the weekday rush.
In addition to the TTC changes, GO Transit has announced that there will be no train service on the Kitchener line between Bramalea GO and Union Station from Saturday through the end of service on Sunday due to critical track work. Replacement buses will operate from Bramalea GO to the Highway 407 Bus Terminal, where riders can connect to TTC Line 1 to continue to Union Station.
During this closure, GO train service will not stop at Bloor, Mount Dennis, Weston, or Etobicoke North stations. However, regular GO buses will still serve Malton GO station.
On a positive note, TTC has committed to enhancing service in other areas to accommodate larger crowds.
According to a city media portal, extra subway trains will run on Line 1 (Yonge-University) for the Blue Jays’ home opener on Friday at Rogers Centre, along with increased service on the 510 Spadina streetcar route. Additionally, for soccer fans attending Canada’s international friendlies at BMO Field on Saturday, the TTC will provide extra service on the 509 Harbourfront route and increase staffing at Queens Quay and Exhibition loops to manage crowd flow.
