Three drones struck a camp belonging to an Iranian Kurdish opposition group in northern Iraq early Monday
KURDISTAN (MNTV) — Three drones struck a camp belonging to an Iranian Kurdish opposition group in northern Iraq early Monday, causing material damage but no casualties, according to authorities in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
The drones targeted the Azadi camp, affiliated with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), in the Koy Sanjaq district southeast of Erbil city, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s security agency said.
Local media network Rudaw reported that the attack took place at dawn.
An unnamed PDKI source told Rudaw that the drones used in the attack were Iranian-made. However, there was no immediate confirmation of who launched them.
The strike caused material damage at the camp, but no deaths or injuries were reported.
The Azadi camp has previously come under drone attacks, including strikes in April and June, amid heightened regional tensions following US-Israeli attacks on Iran in February.
The PDKI is an Iranian Kurdish opposition group based in Iraq’s Kurdistan region. Iran has previously targeted Iranian Kurdish opposition groups operating from northern Iraq.
