Jamaat-e-Islami reports attacks on party members in multiple districts
A senior Jamaat-e-Islami official has accused attackers of targeting party supporters in several incidents across Bangladesh
DHAKA (MNTV) — A senior Jamaat-e-Islami official has accused attackers of targeting party supporters in several incidents across Bangladesh, according to local media reports.
Ehsanul Mahbub Jobayer, the party’s assistant secretary general, told reporters outside Jamaat’s central office in Dhaka that violence had erupted in at least three locations: Bhola, Cumilla, and Hatia Upazila.
Jobayer said confrontations were continuing in Bhola at the time of his statement.
He described assaults on party representatives who were prevented from carrying out their work while handling documentation, though he did not provide further specifics about the nature of their activities.
The Jamaat official also criticized what he characterized as insufficient government response to the incidents.
“There are allegations that the administration is not providing much effective cooperation,” Jobayer said during the briefing.
The claims were reported by Prothom Alo, one of Bangladesh’s leading news outlets. Independent verification of the incidents was not immediately available.
