Bangladesh Jamaat chief hopeful his party will form government
DHAKA, Bangladesh (MNTV) – – Bangladesh Jama’at-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has expressed hope that his party would form the government through the voters’ mandate.
“If the voting is held in a free and fair manner, we will accept the results. Others should also accept the verdict of the people,” he told reporters after casting his vote around 8:30am at the Monipur High School And College polling center.
“After being deprived of voting for nearly a decade and a half, I finally got the opportunity to cast my vote today. I could not vote in the elections of 2014, 2018, and 2024 as I was in jail during those times. After missing three consecutive elections, Alhamdulillah, Allah has given us the chance to vote today,” the Jama’at ameer said.
Expressing his gratitude to the Almighty, he prayed that through this election, a new chapter begins in Bangladesh. “We pray that this election is peaceful, fair, free from violence and occupation, and acceptable to all. Through this vote, we hope a government will be formed that does not belong to any individual, family, or party, but to the 180 million people of this country,” he further said.
“We are hopeful about forming such a government,” he added.
“With casting my vote here today, we have begun our journey. I will visit other centers later and observe the situation. I seek everyone’s cooperation. This country belongs to all of us; we must build it together, hand in hand,” Shafiqur said.
“After casting my vote at this center, I will visit other centers and monitor the situation across the country. If there are minor issues, we will ignore them. But if there are major irregularities, we will not let them pass and will take necessary action,” he said replying to a query.
“We do not want people to be deprived of their right to vote. If the election is held in a fair and neutral manner, we will accept the result—and others must accept it too. That is the beauty of democracy,” he further said.
