Israeli strikes kill eight in Gaza as ceasefire violations continue
Gaza's Health Ministry said that since ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025, Israeli violations have killed 1,045 Palestinians
GAZA CITY (AA) — Eight Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded in a series of Israeli military attacks across the Gaza Strip on Monday, despite a ceasefire that has been in place since October 2025, according to medical sources.
Among the dead were a mother and her young daughter, who were killed when an Israeli strike hit tents sheltering displaced families in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Eyewitnesses said the attack caused widespread destruction to the makeshift shelters and residents’ possessions.
Minutes earlier, an Israeli drone had targeted a beach tent in the same area, killing two people and wounding 27 others.
The injured, suffering a range of wounds described as minor to moderate, were taken to Nasser Medical Complex and nearby field hospitals in Khan Younis.
Elsewhere in the south, Israeli forces shot and killed one Palestinian and wounded a young girl near the Bani Suheila roundabout east of Khan Younis after opening fire on a civilian gathering.
In central Gaza, a drone strike on Al-Baraka Street in Deir al-Balah killed three more people, including a child, and left several others injured.
In the north, Israeli artillery shelling in the Al-Salatin area of Beit Lahia left a young man and a woman with moderate injuries.
Beyond the airstrikes and shelling, Israeli forces were also active on the ground.
The military demolished structures northeast of Khan Younis, with residents reporting heavy explosions and gunfire from Israeli vehicles stationed east of the city.
In central Gaza, Israeli military vehicles pushed into Salah al-Din Street in the Nuseirat refugee camp, opening fire and conducting shelling. Witnesses said the forces relocated concrete barriers marking what Israel calls the “Yellow Line” — a military-enforced buffer zone inside the strip — roughly 150 meters westward toward Wadi Gaza Bridge.
Residents reported finding new barriers along the road on Monday morning, suggesting a further expansion of Israeli-controlled territory in apparent breach of the truce.
The Israeli military currently controls more than 70 percent of the Gaza Strip through the buffer zone, which bars Palestinian access to surrounding areas, according to Israeli officials.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said that since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025, Israeli violations have killed 1,045 Palestinians and wounded 3,380, with women and children making up the majority of casualties.
Since the genocide began in October 2023, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 173,000 injured, while approximately 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed.
