Israeli forces arrest 2 Palestinians, detain foreign activist in West Bank raids
Army also fires live ammunition during incursions into several towns and villages
RAMALLAH, Palestine (MNTV) – Israeli forces arrested two Palestinians and detained a foreign solidarity activist Sunday during raids across the occupied West Bank, according to official Palestinian media.
WAFA news agency said forces detained the activist and seized his vehicle at a checkpoint near Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah.
The army also tightened restrictions at the checkpoint, causing heavy traffic and disrupting residents’ movement. The activist’s fate was not immediately known.
In the southern West Bank, Israeli forces arrested a Palestinian during a raid on Al-Tabaqa village south of Hebron, according to Palestine TV.
WAFA said forces also raided Kafr Ein northwest of Ramallah and fired live ammunition, with no injuries reported.
Israeli forces separately arrested former prisoner Shahid Mustafa Youssef Maatan, 23, while he was working at a private school in Rammun village.
Near occupied East Jerusalem, military vehicles entered Anata and deployed across several streets and neighborhoods.
Forces also raided villages in Jenin province and searched a home in Arraba, according to the official Voice of Palestine radio.
Israeli forces have intensified operations in the occupied West Bank since Oct. 8, 2023, when it began a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip. The operations include occupied East Jerusalem, with reports of killings, arrests, forced displacement, home demolitions and settlement expansion.
