Iraq to present 18 key initiatives at upcoming Arab and regional summits
Proposals include security and economic cooperation, with plans for a regional reconstruction fund for Gaza and Lebanon
BAGHDAD, Iraq (MNTV) — Iraq has prepared 18 initiatives to present at three high-level summits set for Saturday: the Arab League Summit, the Economic and Development Summit, and a trilateral summit with Egypt and Jordan.
The proposals cover a range of security and economic issues, reported Iraqi News Agency.
According to a statement from government spokesperson Basim Al-Awadi, five of the proposals have already been approved by Arab foreign ministers during a preparatory meeting held Thursday ahead of the high-level sessions.
The approved initiatives focus on enhancing regional cooperation in security, counter-terrorism, and anti-narcotics efforts. Al-Awadi added that the remaining 13 proposals are primarily economic in nature.
Among the key economic proposals is Iraq’s call for the creation of an Arab fund dedicated to the reconstruction of war-affected areas in Gaza and Lebanon, aimed at fostering stability and development across the region.
The three summits will be held consecutively on Saturday, starting with a morning session attended by kings, presidents, and other heads of state.
This will be followed by an economic development summit in the afternoon and a trilateral cooperation meeting between Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan in the evening.
