E-Scooters and E-Bikes Banned on MiWay Buses Starting July 1
Starting July 1, e-scooters and e-bikes will no longer be allowed on MiWay buses or their bike racks.
The Mississauga City Council approved this decision on May 21 in response to rising safety concerns related to lithium-ion batteries powering such devices, which are prone to overheating and exploding. Currently, there are no safety regulations governing the use of these batteries.
Medical mobility devices are exempt from this ban, as they follow regulated maintenance protocols and are essential tools for many citizens.
City officials state that the ban will remain in effect until safety guidelines are put in place to protect passengers and transit staff.
