Algeria, UNDP sign joint declaration to advance national digital transformation

ALGIERS, Algeria (MNTV) — Algeria and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed a declaration of intent to accelerate the country’s national digital transformation strategy, reinforcing cooperation in modernizing public services and developing digital governance.

The agreement was formalized during a meeting in Algiers between Meriem Benmouloud, Algeria’s High Commissioner for Digitalization with ministerial rank, and Natasha van Rijn, UNDP’s Resident Representative in Algeria, the High Commission announced.

According to the statement, the declaration outlines a shared commitment to enhance the pace and scope of Algeria’s digital transition, particularly through the implementation of its national strategy for 2025–2026 — the first phase of a broader digital roadmap.

As part of this initiative, the High Commission for Digitalization has identified more than 500 projects slated for completion during the two-year period, with nearly 75 percent focused on improving public service delivery. 

Each project will be supported by defined monitoring and performance indicators to ensure progress and accountability.

The government’s digital roadmap aligns with the “Digital Algeria 2030” vision, which serves as the country’s foundational framework for structuring and guiding transformation efforts. 

The strategy is built on five key pillars: digital infrastructure, human capital and training, research and innovation, digital governance, and the digital economy and society.

Officials emphasized that the partnership with UNDP will not only provide technical expertise but also help align Algeria’s digital transition with international best practices, fostering greater efficiency and inclusiveness in public administration.
