Trump-Erdogan meeting ‘historic,’ says US ambassador to Türkiye

WASHINGTON, United States (MNTV) – US Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack praised the more than two-hour meeting between US President Donald Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, describing it as “better than great” and “historic.”
“I think it was better than great, in my humble opinion. Two amazing leaders from very different parts of the world, from different points of view, had real understanding and respect for each other,” Barrack told reporters outside the White House after the talks.
He said the discussions were marked by harmony between the two delegations. “The team is first-class. Blended perfectly on all the issues with the US team. President Trump was graceful, kind, understanding, strong on the issues that they needed to talk about. They’re both very strong. And honestly, it was historic,” he said.
On Syria, Barrack underscored Washington’s support for the country’s territorial integrity. He dismissed models based on sectarian or ethnic federalism, pointing to Lebanon and Iraq as failed examples. “None of these fractured federalisms or confessionalism have worked anywhere,” he noted.
