Türkiye, US sign strategic civil nuclear cooperation deal
Agreement aims to boost collaboration on clean energy and nuclear technology
WASHINGTON DC (MNTV) — Türkiye and the United States have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Strategic Civil Nuclear Cooperation, marking a new chapter in bilateral energy relations, officials announced Thursday.
The agreement was signed at the White House by Türkiye’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Donald Trump.
Bayraktar said the deal opens a fresh process that will further deepen the longstanding and multifaceted partnership between Ankara and Washington in the field of nuclear energy.
He emphasized that the memorandum would generate mutual benefits for both countries, particularly in advancing civilian nuclear technology, investment, and energy security.
The move comes as Türkiye seeks to diversify its energy portfolio and strengthen its role in the global clean energy transition, with nuclear cooperation playing a key part in its long-term strategy.
