Maryam Khan made history Wednesday becoming Connecticut’s first Muslim woman endorsed as a candidate for the state House.
She was nominated for Connecticut’s 5th District seat, representing Windsor and Hartford.
Khan says part of her motivation to run is setting an example for young Muslim women.
She said youth need to know they can be both Muslim and part of the community.
