White Nationalists Announce Anti-Immigration Event; Hamilton Authorities on High Alert.
Before delving deeper, it’s essential to understand who is behind this event: the Dominion Society of Canada (DSC). Their gathering is raising significant concerns related to law and order in Hamilton.
Founded on July 1, 2025, the Dominion Society of Canada is part of the rapidly growing white nationalist movement in Canada. The group promotes what it describes as “Canadian identity, heritage, and nationalism.” It opposes immigration from non-Anglo-Celtic or non-French European countries and advocates for “remigration,” which entails the forcible expulsion of newcomers not deemed part of traditional Canadian ethnic groups.
The membership base of DSC has alarmed many due to its visible and concealed members, including Canadian police officers, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP personnel, and entrepreneurs. As of mid-2026, the group claims to have over 3,000 registered members. The Canadian Anti-Hate Network characterizes DSC as a “far-right” racist organization and the “political arm” of white nationalism, whose primary objective is to influence political partiesāespecially the Conservative Partyāto adopt its ethno-nationalist policies, including the mass expulsion of immigrants.
Authorities are particularly concerned that DSC is emerging from the shadows to organize public events to promote its agenda. The one-day conference, titled “DomCon 2026,” is scheduled to take place in Hamilton, Ontario, on August 29. Its program slogan proclaims,
“Canadian nationalism is no longer a fringe conversation! For too long, Canadian nationalists have been dispersed and isolated, without a gathering place worthy of the movement we’re building. That’s why we’re holding DomCon26.”
Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath acted swiftly by writing to local businesses, urging them not to provide any moral or material support to DSC for the event. She stated, “While people are free to express their views, our community must be clear about the values we stand for and are proud of, which are inclusion, respect, and ensuring that everyone feels they belong in Hamilton.”
On August 4, several Hamilton organizations, including the Hamilton Anti-Racism Resource Center (HARRC) and the Hamilton Center for Civic Inclusion, signed an open letter calling on businesses and institutions not to rent space to the Dominion Society. They urged elected officials to denounce the group and asked leaders to commit to policies and statements that “will not contribute to the scapegoating of immigrants and racialized communities, which is on the rise in Hamilton.”
In support of these efforts, HARRC published a guide with tips to help venues avoid renting to groups that promote hate. To underline the danger posed by this group to immigrant Canadians, HARRC and other anti-hate organizations cited DSC’s claim that “Canada is not becoming more ‘diverse,’ it’s becoming more Indian,” arguing that “mass immigration is creating chaos.” As a proposed solution, DSC promotes an agenda that includes the mass deportation of individuals, including temporary foreign workers, permanent residents, and people born in Canada to non-Canadian citizens.
Hamilton police are developing a plan to address “risks, disruptions, or criminal activity” associated with DomCon 2026. Police spokesperson Jackie Penman stated on August 11, 2026, that they understand the promotion of this event may cause fear, anger, and uncertainty among community members, particularly those who feel targeted by hateful or extremist rhetoric. She added that the police service is listening to community concerns and will maintain a “visible and appropriate presence,” taking enforcement action where lawful grounds exist.
Authorities encourage anyone who experiences threats, harassment, or hate-motivated behavior to report it.
