Turkmen pavilion earns praise at Osaka Expo 2025
Three-story exhibit in Japan features immersive tech, cultural artifacts, and eco-medicine, showcasing Turkmenistan’s global ambitions
ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan (MNTV) — Turkmenistan’s national pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka is gaining international attention for its striking architecture and immersive design, positioning the Central Asian nation as both culturally rich and future-oriented.
The three-level structure, designed by Turkmen architecture firm Belli, offers a curated experience that weaves together traditional heritage and modern aspirations. At the heart of the pavilion is a high-tech exhibition floor that uses multimedia installations and a massive spherical screen to take visitors on a virtual journey through the country’s landscapes, history, and culture.
According to a report by Business Turkmenistan, the pavilion has emerged as one of the standout national showcases at the Expo, which runs from April 13 to October 13 on the man-made island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay.
The global event, held under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” features pavilions from more than 150 countries.
The second floor of the Turkmen pavilion highlights national progress across key sectors such as energy, science, healthcare, and education. A section dedicated to medicinal plants draws attention to the country’s deep-rooted knowledge of traditional medicine and its potential for global relevance.
On the third level, visitors encounter a cultural center filled with handwoven carpets, museum-quality artifacts, and traditional embroidery. A rooftop terrace with open-air gazebos offers a space for relaxation, while a national restaurant serves Turkmen cuisine using organic ingredients sourced from local producers.
Observers note that Turkmenistan’s presence in Osaka signals a broader push to craft a modern international image—one that blends ecological sustainability, soft power, and cultural pride.
