Trump calls alleged Iranian drone attacks on ship a ‘foolish violation’ of ceasefire
US president said Iran fired at least four drones at vessels in Strait of Hormuz, one of which struck a cargo ship
WASHINGTON (MNTV) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday described recent drone attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz as a “foolish violation” of the ceasefire with Iran, accusing Tehran of being behind them.
Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump claimed that Iran had fired at least four one-way attack drones at ships.
He said U.S. forces intercepted three, while the fourth hit a cargo vessel, damaging it but leaving it able to continue.
The claim follows a report Thursday from the U.K. Maritime Trade Operations centre, which said a cargo ship had been struck by an unidentified projectile off the coast of Oman, damaging the vessel’s bridge.
No casualties or environmental damage were reported.
The centre did not attribute the strike to any party.
