MANAMA/ISLAMABAD (MNTV) — Pakistani snooker players made a powerful impression at the 2025 IBSF World 6-Red Snooker Championship on Sunday, securing a series of emphatic wins and asserting their presence on the international stage.
Mohammad Hasnain Akhtar, the reigning U-17 world champion, began the day with a 4-0 demolition of Egypt’s Mohamed Abdelkader, posting dominant frame scores of 70(70)-0, 45-11, 57(35)-7, and 48-2.
However, his unbeaten run came to an end later in the day after a tightly contested 4-2 loss to Hong Kong’s Chau Hon Man. Hasnain fell behind early, dropping the first two frames 41-9 and 38-16, before responding in style with back-to-back breaks of 69 and 67 to level the match. Hon Man edged the final two frames 39-33 and 30-29 to seal the win.
Meanwhile, Ahsan Ramzan, a former world amateur champion, delivered two clinical 4-0 victories. He first swept past Oman’s Sami Al Hamrashadi with frame scores of 60(30)-1, 39-16, 48-9, and 50(50)-11.
Later in the day, he maintained his perfect record by defeating Bahrain’s Abdullah Mohammed 39-14, 41(41)-0, 42-31, and 38-4.
Veteran cueist Mohammad Asif also showcased his class with a flawless 4-0 win over Ireland’s Jay Chopra, compiling breaks of 66, 75, and 33 in the process. Asif’s recent Masters title win appears to have added fresh momentum to his campaign.
The ongoing championship, hosted by the Bahrain Billiard Sports & Darts Federation, features the world’s top junior, masters, and men’s 6-Red snooker players. The tournament runs from July 13 to 24 in Manama and includes a prize purse of $4,000 for the winner and $2,000 for the runner-up in each category.
