Obama condemns Trump’s catastrophic Iran policy while Netanyahu celebrates

CHICAGO, United States (MNTV) – Former President Barack Obama has issued a stark condemnation of Donald Trump’s Iran policy, warning that the administration’s aggressive militarism risks unleashing severe global consequences while serving primarily to advance Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s strategic interests rather than American security.
In an interview with The New Yorker, Obama directly critiqued Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric about Iran, arguing that such language is incompatible with responsible global leadership. He warned that abandoning fundamental principles of human dignity and restraint destabilizes international systems and weakens American credibility.
Most significantly, Obama pointed explicitly to Netanyahu’s manipulation of U.S. policy. He revealed that Netanyahu repeatedly pressured both his administration and Trump toward military confrontation with Iran—and that while Obama resisted that pressure, Trump capitulated.
Obama questioned whether recent military escalations actually served American interests, suggesting instead that Netanyahu has achieved his objectives while the U.S. bears the consequences. He expressed doubt that the outcomes served either Israel or America in any meaningful long-term strategic sense.
Obama’s implicit criticism is direct: Trump has been played by Netanyahu. The administration has adopted policies driven by Israeli military expansion rather than by careful analysis of American strategic interests or regional stability.
He warned that rebuilding international trust damaged by Trump’s recklessness will be extraordinarily difficult, and that weakening the post-World War II system of international cooperation carries consequences far beyond any single conflict.
What emerges is an uncomfortable truth: the Trump administration’s Iran policy is not an independent strategic decision. It is a capitulation to Israeli demands—at the expense of American interests and global stability.
