Israeli raids detain 30 Palestinians as settler attacks intensify
House searches, alleged impersonation of soldiers and assaults on olive harvesters deepen concerns over escalating violence across occupied West Bank
NABLUS, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli forces detained 30 Palestinians during raids across the occupied West Bank, while settler attacks injured members of a Palestinian family and people harvesting olives, according to Palestinian sources.
According to Arab News, most arrests occurred in the Nablus governorate, with troops searching homes and converting a house in Asira Al-Shamaliya into an interrogation center.
The raids and reported assaults added to continuing pressure on Palestinian communities under Israeli occupation.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office said Israeli forces detained 15 Palestinians in Tal, 12 in Asira Al-Shamaliya and one in Talfit, all in the Nablus area.
Two additional Palestinians were arrested during home searches in Tubas, in the northeastern West Bank, and Hebron, in the south.
In Talfit, south of Nablus city, settlers wearing Israeli military uniforms allegedly attacked Yusuf Munawwar Abu Aisha and members of his family early Tuesday.
Local sources told Anadolu Agency that the assailants knocked on the family’s door while posing as soldiers before severely beating Abu Aisha and his relatives.
Several injured family members were taken to hospital, according to the sources. Israeli troops also raided homes in the village during the same period, compounding residents’ insecurity.
In a separate incident, settlers attacked Palestinians harvesting olives on agricultural land in Beit Lid, near Tulkarem. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its crews treated two people who had been beaten by Israeli Zionist settlers.
The incidents occurred during the olive harvest, a vital agricultural season for Palestinian communities that provides income while maintaining longstanding connections to family-owned land.
Attacks on harvesters can threaten livelihoods and restrict Palestinians’ access to agricultural property.
The reported violence also highlights the difficulties Palestinian residents face when armed settlers and Israeli forces operate in the same communities.
Attackers disguised themselves as soldiers raise additional concerns about the safety of civilians and the accountability of those responsible.
Raids, arrests and settler violence have continued across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, amid the wider devastation of Israel’s genocide in Gaza since October 2023.
Palestinians and rights advocates have repeatedly raised concerns about the consequences of occupation, restrictions on movement and attacks on homes and property.
The latest incidents underscore the need for accountability for abuses against Palestinian civilians and effective protection for residents exercising their basic rights, including access to their homes and farmland.
