NASA recognizes Pakistani for reporting flaw in its security
Self-taught ethical hacker is inducted into NASA's cybersecurity Hall of Fame after privately reporting security flaw through agency's disclosure program
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (MNTV) — A self-taught Pakistani cybersecurity researcher has been recognized by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) after responsibly disclosing a security vulnerability in one of the agency’s digital systems.
According to Pakistan Today, the researcher identified the flaw during independent security testing and reported it to NASA through the agency’s responsible vulnerability disclosure program rather than publicly revealing the issue.
After verifying the report, NASA acknowledged the contribution by adding the researcher’s name to its Hall of Fame, which recognizes security researchers who help strengthen the agency’s cybersecurity by responsibly reporting vulnerabilities.
The recognition underscores the growing international profile of Pakistani cybersecurity professionals, who are increasingly participating in global bug bounty and responsible vulnerability disclosure programs.
Responsible disclosure programs encourage ethical hackers to report security weaknesses directly to organizations, allowing vulnerabilities to be addressed before they can be exploited by malicious actors.
