Meta enables Israeli violence, restricts Palestinian monetization, report finds
7amleh report says Meta monetizes settler-linked incitement content while excluding Palestinian users from revenue tools and visibility systems
TEL AVIV, Israel (MNTV) — Meta’s platforms financially enable settler-linked incitement against Palestinians while simultaneously restricting Palestinian users from accessing monetization systems, according to findings published by the Arab Center for Social Media Advancement (7amleh).
The report, Monetising Occupation, states: “Meta not only tolerates violent and inciting speech but actively incentivizes its production and spread,” describing a system in which settler-affiliated accounts and media outlets generate revenue despite hosting content that includes violent, racist and inciting material targeting Palestinians.
It further finds that Meta allows content promoting illegal settlement activity, celebrating destruction in Gaza, and endorsing forced displacement to remain monetisable in several cases, turning political incitement into a revenue stream.
At the same time, the report states: “Palestinian journalists, content creators, media outlets, and civil society organizations are structurally denied access to economic tools available to others solely based on their geographic location in the occupied West Bank and Gaza.”
7amleh says this creates a digital system in which “Palestinians are silenced and denied access, while those promoting their dispossession and dehumanization are allowed to profit,” reinforcing what it describes as a structural imbalance in platform governance.
The findings also highlight that Meta removes, limits visibility, or demonetizes Palestinian content even when it complies with platform policies, while similar or more extreme Hebrew-language content linked to settler networks remains active and monetized.
The report concludes that Meta has built “a digital economy around apartheid, settler violence, attacks, racist incitement and impunity,” where economic incentives amplify settler-aligned narratives while suppressing Palestinian participation in the same digital infrastructure.
Meta has not issued a response to the report’s findings.
