Israeli strikes destroy Gaza mosque, kill Palestinian amid surge in settler violence
Israeli airstrikes kill Palestinian, destroy a mosque sheltering displaced families, while settler attacks and land seizures intensify in the occupied West Bank
GAZA CITY, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli forces killed at least one Palestinian and wounded more than a dozen others in fresh airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, including an attack that destroyed a mosque where hundreds of displaced civilians had been taking shelter.
According to Palestinian sources, Israeli warplanes struck the Al-Muttaqin Mosque in Gaza City near the YMCA complex, as military operations continued despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to sustain a ceasefire .
The strike demolished the mosque, which had been serving as a refuge for displaced Palestinians, forcing families to flee once again.
In a separate attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, an Israeli strike hit a crowded marketplace, killing at least one Palestinian and injuring more than a dozen others, local health officials said.
Emergency crews transported the wounded to nearby hospitals as residents reported panic and confusion following the bombardment.
The latest attacks came only days after Israel approved plans to allow the initial deployment of an international stabilization force under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire framework, raising further doubts about prospects for reducing violence on the ground.
Meanwhile, violence also intensified in the occupied West Bank, where Palestinian officials said Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian family near Bethlehem by setting fire to their home after vandalizing the property and torching a vehicle.
Members of the family reportedly fled before the house was engulfed in flames.
Palestinian authorities also accused Israel of expanding land confiscations in the Jenin governorate, saying military orders had seized approximately 200 dunums of land for roads linked to settlement expansion and military infrastructure.
Local officials warned that the measures would further fragment Palestinian communities and facilitate the growth of Israeli settlements widely regarded as illegal under international law.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly criticized Israel’s military strikes in Gaza, continued settlement expansion and settler violence in the occupied West Bank, arguing that such actions deepen the humanitarian crisis and undermine prospects for a lasting political solution.
