Palestinian female detainee alleges sexual abuse during Israeli detention
Rights commission documents testimony accusing Israeli interrogator of repeated sexual harassment as reports of abuse and harsh prison conditions mount
RAMALLAH, Palestine (MNTV) — A Palestinian woman detained by Israeli authorities has accused an Israeli interrogator of repeatedly subjecting her to sexual harassment during questioning, according to testimony documented by the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ Affairs, adding to longstanding allegations of abuse inside Israel’s detention system.
The commission said its lawyer recorded the woman’s testimony during a visit to Damon Prison in northern Israel.
Her identity and the reason for her detention were not disclosed.
According to her account, Israeli forces arrested her during a pre-dawn raid on her family home before transferring her through several interrogation facilities, where she endured prolonged questioning over several days.
The detainee said interrogators threatened to harm members of her family, verbally abused her and attempted to pressure her into making confessions during repeated interrogation sessions.
She further alleged that one Israeli interrogator repeatedly subjected her to deliberate physical sexual harassment throughout detention.
Despite informing him that his actions constituted sexual harassment and demanding that he stop, she said the abuse continued.
The woman also said she was strip-searched multiple times before being transferred to Damon Prison, where she described detention conditions as degrading and incompatible with basic human dignity.
She reported severe overcrowding, inadequate food, insect infestations, shortages of hygiene supplies and clothing, and said some female detainees were forced to sleep on the floor because of a lack of beds.
According to her testimony, Israeli prison authorities continue to impose restrictive measures on female Palestinian detainees, including frequent cell raids, intrusive searches, periods of isolation, restrictions on communication between prisoners and deprivation of essential daily necessities.
The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ Affairs said the testimony forms part of a broader body of documented accounts alleging serious violations against Palestinian women held in Israeli prisons, calling for an independent international investigation and accountability for any abuses that are substantiated.
According to Palestinian prisoner affairs authorities, Israel was holding approximately 9,400 Palestinian prisoners as of early July 2026, including 94 women, more than 350 children, 3,244 administrative detainees held without charge or trial, and 1,320 people designated by Israel as “unlawful combatants.”
Israel has not publicly responded to the specific allegations contained in the detainee’s testimony.
