Israeli forces kill two Palestinians in West Bank raid

JERUSALEM, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli forces killed two Palestinians during an operation in the town of Beit Furik, east of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, on Thursday, according to the Palestinian official news agency Wafa.

Citing security sources, Wafa reported that Israeli troops shot and killed the two men before withholding their bodies. Two other Palestinians were also wounded by Israeli gunfire and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Beit Furik Mayor Youssef Hanani said Israeli forces sealed all entrances to the town, preventing residents from entering or leaving the area. 

He said troops and Israeli settlers confronted residents as they attempted to extinguish fires that had spread through agricultural land.

Hanani also alleged that Israeli soldiers forced a Palestinian family to leave its home after assaulting the homeowner. He said the fires damaged electricity poles, while settlers set two Palestinian vehicles ablaze.

The closure of the Beit Furik military checkpoint left dozens of residents unable to return to their homes or travel outside the town, according to the mayor.

Earlier the same day, the Israeli military said its forces had killed another Palestinian near the illegal settlement of Ganim in the northern West Bank, alleging that he had carried out a stabbing attack against an Israeli soldier.

Violence across the occupied West Bank has intensified since the start of the genocide in Gaza since October 2023. 

According to Palestinian officials, at least 1,185 Palestinians have been killed and 3,816 others injured in military operations and settler attacks during that period.
