Israeli forces demolish Palestinian home weeks after killing owner
Demolition comes amid intensified Israeli raids and destruction of Palestinian homes and businesses across occupied West Bank
RAMALLAH, Palestine (MNTV) — Israeli forces demolished the home of a Palestinian man in the occupied West Bank less than three weeks after he was killed while confronting an attack by Israeli forces and settlers, according to local sources.
The house belonged to Farouk Ramadan, who was among four Palestinians killed during an Israeli military and settler attack on the village of Tal, southwest of Nablus, in late July.
Local sources said Ramadan was unarmed when he confronted the attackers and managed to take a weapon from one of the settlers. He subsequently opened fire, killing two Israeli attackers, before he was killed.
Israeli forces later raided Tal and evacuated residents from several nearby houses before demolishing the third floor of Ramadan’s residential building, according to reports from the area.
In a separate development, Israeli forces began demolishing about 20 Palestinian shops and homes in Anza, south of Jenin, citing alleged construction without Israeli-issued permits.
Local activist Tayseer Sadaqa said Israeli military forces entered the village with demolition equipment and began destroying commercial properties along the main road connecting Anza with Jenin.
Sadaqa said the demolitions were being carried out under the stated justification that the structures had been built without permits.
The demolitions came as Palestinian communities across the occupied West Bank face increased home demolitions, land seizures and settlement expansion, according to Palestinian sources.
Palestinian authorities say Israeli forces and settlers have killed more than 1,183 Palestinians, injured around 13,000 and arrested nearly 25,000 others in the West Bank since the escalation of the Gaza war in October 2023.
Palestinians have warned that the continued demolitions, settlement expansion and attacks are aimed at changing realities on the ground and facilitating the eventual annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank, while undermining prospects for a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders.
