Israeli airstrike kills Palestinian mother, injures two in Gaza City
Hospital officials identify victim as Reem Awad, 33; her young daughter survived fire after strike damaged nearby buildings
GAZA CITY, Palestine (MNTV) — An Israeli airstrike on an apartment building in Gaza City killed a 33-year-old Palestinian woman and wounded two other people, hospital officials said, as attacks continue to endanger civilians in the devastated enclave.
According to Al Jazeera, the victim was identified as Reem Asaad Awad, who died in the strike in the Al-Rimal neighborhood.
The attack caused extensive damage to the targeted apartment and nearby buildings, while a fire broke out inside the residence.
Awad’s young daughter was rescued from the blaze, according to the report. The circumstances underscore the risks faced by families living in residential buildings during continued military operations.
Israel said it was investigating the incident and claimed the strike targeted a Hamas member, but the report said Israeli authorities had not provided evidence supporting that claim.
The killing comes amid continued Palestinian casualties despite a ceasefire arrangement announced the previous year.
Al Jazeera reported that 1,501 Palestinians had been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025.
Repeated strikes on residential areas have intensified concerns about civilian protection and accountability.
The latest incident raises further questions about the justification for attacks that destroy homes and kill people who are not identified as combatants.
