Iranian photographers shine at International Photography Awards 2025
Iranian photographers win across multiple categories, with entries highlighting social issues, cultural heritage, and artistic innovation
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Ten Iranian photographers have won top honors at the International Photography Awards (IPA) 2025, with two securing first-place prizes and several others earning second and third places across multiple categories.
This year’s competition drew more than 14,000 submissions from 100 countries, reviewed by an international jury of leading photography experts, ILNA reported.
Mehrdad Oskouei won 1st Place in the Analog, Film, Photojournalism category for Amidst the Rubble of Disaster, capturing a young boy searching for family members and belongings in the aftermath of an earthquake near Qazvin.
Arlen Keshishian received 1st Place in the Fine Art, Collage category for Perspective, a studio-based photo montage exploring personal reflections through artistic editing.
Seven Iranians were awarded 2nd Place prizes. Ehsan Moradi’s Water is not the source of life highlighted contaminated drinking water in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, earning high praise from the judges.
Hadi Dehghanpour’s Petition Writing depicted anti-war petitioners, while Mehdi Parsaeian’s Peak of Light presented a dramatic desert landscape in Yazd.
Masoumeh Rahimi’s mobile-shot self-portrait The Commotion used imagery of migratory birds to symbolize overwhelming thoughts.
Abolghasem Khoshro and Majid “Maho” Hojati both secured multiple awards. Khoshro earned 2nd Place in Fine Art, Architecture for Niavaran Palace and 3rd Place in Minimalism for Legend 1, featuring a German horse.
Hojati’s Eid morning day won 2nd Place in People, Traditions, Culture, while his Nowruz, the ancient heritage of Iran took 3rd Place in the same category, showing children celebrating the Persian New Year.
The IPA, one of the world’s leading photography competitions, honors professional, amateur, and student photographers worldwide.
Category winners will now compete for the top titles of International Photographer of the Year, with a $10,000 award, and Discovery of the Year, carrying a $5,000 prize.
The awards are organized in collaboration with the Lucie Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to celebrating master photographers, supporting emerging talent, and promoting global appreciation of photography.
