Iran launches RoboLegal, first AI-powered legal assistant to boost access to justice
Innovation reflects rapid expansion of country’s digital ecosystem and startup culture
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran has introduced “RoboLegal,” its first artificial intelligence-powered legal assistant, marking a milestone in the country’s growing technology sector and efforts to digitize public services.
Designed to provide quick and accessible legal guidance, RoboLegal allows users to interact via voice or text, offering answers based on an extensive database of Iranian legal cases.
According to Mehr News, the system aims to reduce costs, ease access to justice, and cut waiting times for citizens who might otherwise struggle to afford traditional legal services.
Beyond supporting the public, RoboLegal is also expected to assist judges and lawyers by handling routine tasks, expediting court processes, and reducing administrative costs. Officials said the innovation could help businesses by limiting delays and uncertainties linked to legal disputes.
What sets RoboLegal apart, developers emphasized, is its local foundation. Built specifically for Iran’s legal and cultural context, the system avoids reliance on foreign technologies that may not align with the country’s judicial framework, ensuring accuracy and relevance for domestic users.
The launch comes amid rapid expansion in Iran’s information and communications technology (ICT) ecosystem. The government currently provides more than 200 general and over 700 specialized digital services across sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and culture.
Iran’s startup scene, driven largely by young entrepreneurs, has seen strong growth in fields ranging from e-commerce and digital platforms to fintech and smart city solutions.
Notable examples include Digikala in online retail, Skyroom in digital education, and Cafe Bazaar in mobile app distribution, alongside dozens of firms innovating in digital health, insurance technologies, and artificial intelligence.
Officials and experts view RoboLegal as a symbol of how technology can improve governance and strengthen public trust.
By automating routine legal processes and extending services to remote or underserved areas, the platform is seen as a step toward building a fairer and more transparent justice system.
With artificial intelligence increasingly applied to public services, observers expect its role in Iran to expand rapidly beyond legal affairs, transforming administrative operations and reinforcing the country’s emergence as a regional hub for innovation.
