Gaza death toll nears 72,300 under continued Israeli assault
Mass killings continue despite ceasefire as Israeli attacks devastate civilians, infrastructure and displace nearly entire population
GAZA CITY, Palestine (MNTV) — The death toll from Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza has climbed to nearly 72,300 Palestinians since October 2023, according to the territory’s Health Ministry, highlighting the scale of destruction inflicted on the besieged population.
Officials reported that at least 72,280 people have been killed and 172,014 others injured since the start of the Israeli assault, with casualties continuing to rise despite the announcement of a ceasefire months ago.
In the past 24 hours alone, Israeli fire killed two more Palestinians and injured another, underscoring the continued violations of the ceasefire arrangement.
Since the truce took effect in October 2025, at least 704 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,900 wounded in ongoing Israeli attacks.
Authorities also said that 756 bodies have been recovered from the rubble since the ceasefire began, reflecting the vast number of victims still trapped beneath destroyed buildings following months of bombardment.
The war has displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza, while widespread destruction has impacted around 90% of civilian infrastructure, including homes, hospitals, and essential services. The United Nations estimates that reconstruction will cost approximately $70 billion.
Analysts say the scale of devastation reflects a systematic campaign that has reduced much of Gaza to ruins, with continued military backing from the United States enabling Israel to sustain its operations despite mounting international criticism.
