Amazon launches 20-minute delivery service in Egypt
New ultra-fast delivery platform intensifies competition in Egypt's growing quick-commerce market with grocery and household orders delivered in minutes
CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) — Amazon has introduced its ultra-fast delivery service, Amazon Now, in Egypt, promising customers delivery of groceries and everyday essentials in as little as 20 minutes as the company strengthens its presence in the country’s expanding quick-commerce sector.
The service is initially available in selected areas of Cairo, Giza, Alexandria and the North Coast, with Amazon planning to expand coverage to additional locations in the coming months.
Amazon Now offers a wide selection of products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, groceries, household goods, personal care items and selected electronics.
The company said the service is supported by a network of micro-fulfillment centers designed to shorten delivery times and improve logistics efficiency.
Customers pay a flat delivery fee of 25 Egyptian pounds, while Amazon Prime members receive free delivery on eligible orders above a specified spending threshold.
The launch places Amazon in direct competition with established rapid-delivery platforms operating in Egypt, where demand for near-instant delivery of daily essentials has increased significantly.
The company is betting that faster fulfillment and its existing retail infrastructure will help it capture a larger share of the country’s fast-growing e-commerce market.
Amazon said the expansion reflects its broader strategy of investing in local logistics while supporting Egyptian suppliers and businesses through its marketplace ecosystem.
