US Marines board, release vessel in Arabian Sea amid Iran blockade
CENTCOM says ship cleared after search found no plans to dock at Iranian port
WASHINGTON (MNTV) – U.S. Marines boarded and later released a commercial vessel in the Arabian Sea on Tuesday amid enforcement of a blockade on Iran, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit intercepted the M/V Blue Star III on suspicion it was heading toward Iranian ports. A search found no such plans, and the vessel was allowed to proceed, CENTCOM said in a statement on X.
The command added that 39 vessels have been redirected to ensure compliance with the blockade.
